With that purpose were created a new kind of good-practices guides. These are not the typical guides, but a compilation arising from the EUCEMET project using aquestion-answer formula and a collaborative methodology to which every participating country have jointly contributed.

This guide stems from the need to have a good practice guide that could be used to establish and evaluate the necessary measures to organise tourism visits in cemeteries. The guide aims to address issues related to cemeteries conservation, restoration and maintenance. Opening and promoting cemeteries among visitors and tourists can be regarded as heritage protective measures, and that is why restoration and maintenance are essential: visits to listed locations must not be promoted if conservation measures have not been foreseen, nor those responsible of those visits must let these activities to have a negative impact on these spots.
