Don`t miss the official beginning of this year`s “Week of discovering European Cemeteries” and the “Celebration of 100th anniversary of World War I” at Varaždin Cemetery.
The event will take place on 23rd of May 2014 at 10.00 am at Varaždin Cemetery - cemetery of warriors of World War I.
The main organizer is the company Parkovi d.d. Varaždin, along with Varaždin Concert Office, Pogrebno podjetje Maribor d.d., Gallery Center and City Museum of Varaždin as partners. The event is sponsored by the City of Varaždin.
Varaždin Cemetery is a member of ASCE (Association of Significant Cemeteries of Europe) since 2003. ASCE is an organization that annually celebrates the Week of discovering Europeans Cemeteries and Parkovi d.d. is a part of this great project.
The photo exhibition
On the same occasion there will be the opening of a photo exhibition named: "European cemeteries: Soul gardens, variety and heritage", which is a gift from the Pogrebno podjetje Maribor d.d. to the City of Varaždin - a candidate for the European Capital of Culture 2020.
The exhibition will be opened by the mayor of the City of Varaždin, Mr. Goran Habuš, along with ASCE president and director of Pogrebno podjetje Maribor d.d., Lidija Pliberšek . After the opening, PhD Vladimir Huzjan will talk about the cemetery of warriors of World War I and European soldiers buried in the cemetery. The entire program will be complemented with a short concert by the Brass orchestra.
Photos will be exhibited in the Gallery Varaždin on the Miljenko Stančić square from 24th of May 2014 to 8th of June 2014.
