The Department of Culture and Tourism – Superintendence of Cultural Heritage of Rome has organized two concerts at the Verano Monumental Cemetery.
The Center for the Documentation of Historic Roman Cemeteries was established on July 15th, 2003 by the Office of Superintendence of Cultural Heritage of Rome. The material of remarkable interest that can be consulted at the Center includes historical information on over 7000 funeral monuments such as photographs, slides, film clips and illustrations that document the history of the Verano Cemetery. This year a new project will be presented consisting of slides about commemorative monuments of the First World War.
The Center, located at the entrance of the portico, is open upon request on the following occasions: Week of Discovering European Cemeteries (May/June); for the commemoration of the 1943 bombardments (July 19th), and for the commemoration of the Dead (November). For WDEC 2015 the Centre will be open from Friday May 22nd to Sunday May 31st, from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm.
To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Italy’s entry in the First World War, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Superintendence of Cultural Heritage of Rome organized the following events, that took place in the Verano Cemetery Quadriportico:
- On May 24th at 10 am – concert by “Banda Musicale” the band of the Local Police;
