The 2017
summer calendar in the Certosa, Bologna Monumental Cemetery, is now
here with a new series of night walks and events.
The
collaboration of various entities of Bologna allowed putting together
a very rich programme featuring 50 events: guided tours, theatre
events, itinerant shows,etc.
Thus art,
history, anecdotes and reflections will bring the spotlight back onto
the Certosa from 28th May to 30 September 2017.
Among these events, this is the programme on the occasion of the Week of Discovering European cemeteries (WDEC) 2017:
“Marathon in the Certosa: Bolognese art history from 1801 until today”
Sunday May
28, 10 a.m.
A walk
through the Carthusian cloisters allows visitors to retrace the
historical key steps of Bolognese art through the works of the great
masters, from 1801 until today. From the Neoclassicism of Giacomo de
Maria to the Verism of Vincenzo Vela, from the Art Nouveau of
Pasquale Rizzoli, through the twentieth-century Classicism of Ercole
Drei and the vibrant matter of Manzù, until the abstract shapes of
Bruno Saetti.
A 3 hour
guided tour for the lovers of art, walking and the Certosa.

The creation
of a Carthusian charterhouse in Bologna was a double homage to the
Pope and the project started in 1334.
Laura Franchi is going to guide you through a discovery journey of the time, places and activities of the Carthusian monks before the radical change into a cemetery. The tour includes stops in front of some meaningful monuments.

A tale that starts from the Brion Tomb in San Vito di Altivole (1969) commissioned to the architect that in 1960 was appointed as the President of Gavina Spa in Bologna, the design company established by Dino Gavina. The tour ends with a visit to the shop designed by Scarpa in 1961 for the above-mentioned company and located in via Altabella.

“Art and history between the arcades and the Certosa”
Thursday June 1, 20 p.m.
An evening devoted to art and gastronomy for an unusual and mysterious experience: the Open Bus will leave from Piazza Maggiore for a night tour then destination Certosa for a picturesque night walk. Before going back a light buffet featuring local products kindly offered by the ice-cream shop La Torinese.
Programme:

“The Great
