The European Heritage Days are the most widely celebrated participatory
cultural events, shared by the citizens of Europe. Launched in 1985 in France,
the Program has been organized as a joint initiative of the Council of Europe
and the European Union since 1999. The objective of these events is to raise
awareness of heritage, both tangible and intangible, which has helped to shape
people's culture throughout history This Year’s European Heritage Days which
are being organized under the motto “Art and Entertainment”. This all-encompassing
theme will include sports, photography, tourism, circus, fairs, visual arts,
cinema, radio, and television among other entertainment-inspired art forms.
The New
Cemetery in Belgrade
will again honor the 2019 European
Heritage Days in a form of four guided strolls in the period
September-November of this year, as follows:
1. They
Created by Quill and Soul – Tale on poets and authors – Sunday, September 22, 2019
at 10:00 a.m.
2. The
Brads of Serbian Acting Scene – Sunday, September 29, 2019 at 11:00 p.m.
3. The
Great Minds of Serbian Science- Sunday, October 6, at 11:00 p.m.
4. Legendary
WWI Military Commanders and Heroes Buried at the New Cemetery – Sunday,
November 3, 2019 at 11:00.
The announced guided walks along the alleys of the New Cemetery
has already aroused interest among the audience of the 2019 European Heritage
Days, so we are expecting significant number of interested visitors, as in the
previous years.
